BTR-3 "GUARDIAN" Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC), 8x8 wheeled multipurpose vehicle designed by UAE

ADCOM MILITARY INDUSTRIES (AMI), headquartered in Abu Dhabi, UAE, is an international defense research and development company providing high-technology innovative products and services to its UAE and international military, government and commercial customers. The company is at the forefront of the technology advances in battle management, surveillance, precision strike and information warfare.

AMI is involved in a variety of defense projects such as the "HUNTER" Fast Attack Vehicle (FAV), which is a highly mobile strike vehicle used in patrol, surveillance and attack operations.

Another primary project is the "GUARDIAN" Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) an 8x8 wheeled multipurpose vehicle.

The most significant of exports was to the Myanmar Army which acquired 1000 BTR-3Us, to be assembled in Myanmar. The BTR-3U is not an upgrade of the BTR-80 and is a new vehicle similar to the Soviet design.

Design and lay-out principles of the vehicle were determined by the ADCOM MANUFACTURING Company, acting as the whole project coordinator, while the Kharkiv Morozov Machine Building Design Bureau was responsible for the development of the chassis and integration of all vehicle systems and weapons on the chassis (development of the designer documentation). The BTR-3U is also designated as the Guardian. Although somewhat similar in appearance to the Russian BTR-80, the BTR-3U is an all-new production vehicle rather than upgrade of the existing in-service vehicle.

MİTÜP Altay tank of Turkey

The project was initiated with an agreement signed between Otokar and SSM of the Republic of Turkey on March 30, 2007; when the Defense Industries Executive Committee, chaired by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, awarded a contract worth approximately $500 million to Otokar for the design and development of 4 prototypes of a new national main battle tank.

This will be Turkey's first MBT development program since 1943, when prototypes of a Turkish national tank were produced in the city of Kırıkkale, but never reached full-scale mass production.
